2015 NATIONAL READING MONTH
The Department of Education (DepEd) led the whole nation in the celebration of the 2015 National Reading Month ( NRM ), with the theme Nasa Pagbasa ang Pag-asa. The celebration aimed to support the Ten Point Agenda of the Aquino administration, to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino and celebrate his ardent love for reading and to promote the Deped’s Every Child A Reader Program, making the Filipino learners a generation of readers. In line of this program, the teachers and pupils of Puerto Rivas Elementary School joined in the synchronized story reading last November 27, 2015 at 9:00 in the morning. Different activities were done during the Reading Month Celebration and it was a success.

COB DRRM PROJECT
Last September 16-18 , 2015 I attended the seminar, a project of COB DRRM to impart knowledge on how to be ready in a disaster . I was lucky to be one of the participants. In this 3 days seminar , most of the participants came from the community . Baranggay Kagawad, Brgy, Tanod, 4P’s member , Senior Citizens , teachers etc.They were invited to this seminar so that they can impart all that they have learned on their members, neighbors, family and friends. This seminar is timely cause our country is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire and we are prone to disaster like Typhoon, Flood , Earthquake and Fire. The seminar Composed of: Ø Module 1 – The Context of Disaster in the Philippines and the Importance of CBDRRM Ø Module 2 – Procedures in Practice CBDRRM Ø Module 3 – Preparedness , Prevention and Mitigation Tips Ø Module 4 - Mechanics in Response in Disaster , and Preparedness in Rehabilitation Ø Module 5 – Action Planning This COB DRRM Project was really a big help in our community ,because the people in the community now has the knowledge and prepared in any disaster that will come . SLAC on Enhanced SIP and SRC
Isinagawa ang Cluster SLAC on Enhanced SIP and SRC sa M.delos Elementary School noong January 29, 2016 na nilahukan ng tatlong eskuwelahan sa Balanga (CLuster II). Ito ay ang Puerto Rivas E/S, Tortugas E/S at M. delos E/S. Ang nasabing SLAC ay pinangunahan ng mga school heads ng nasabing tatlong eskuwelahan katuwang ang ang kani-kanilang SIP coordinators na dumalo sa SIP seminar. Ang layunin ng programang ito ay lubos na maunawaan ang SIP at AIP kung saan ang bawat isang school ay gagawa nito.At higit sa lahat, ang makabuo ng isang samahan (SGC Team) na tutugon at tutulong para sa kaunlaran ng paaralan. DEWORMING 2015-2016
NARRATIVE REPORT ON 2nd ROUND OF MASS DEWORMING January 27, 2016
In response to the program of the Department of Health in Mass Deworming done January 27,2016 at 8:00 a.m., our school was very grateful to participate the significant activity and achieve the goal of producing an active and healthy children in the community of Puerto Rivas. All teaching personnel and non- teaching personnel joined the program to promote the activity and encouraged every children for this matter. The implementation of massive deworming has been carefully done to ensure the safety of the children. The Stakeholders(GPTA Officers) of Puerto Rivas cooked and prepared “lugaw” to avoid any adverse reactions that may happen in the case of children with insufficient intake of foods. It happened through the leaderships and guidance of our Barangay Health Workers and School Head, Mrs. Ana Maria I. Garcia. She also conducted a short meeting to give instructions to the teachers about the execution of the program. All class advisers informed all parents regarding the activity. Even the Health Workers and teachers were ensuring the safety of the children that everyone was in good health condition, have a heavy breakfast before taking the drugs.
Our initiation of healthful program began in prayer. Before the children took the drug, the Health workers explained the meaningful purpose of the activity, to thwart immediately the growth of the intestinal parasitic worm infections which are causes of some of their health problems. They also spoke about the health benefits it can give to them including their progress in school. The 2nd round of National Deworming was successful because the total enrollees were dewormed through the help of Health Team of Puerto Rivas Ibaba. They had a house to house visitation to talk to parents who are not agreeable to deworm their children. The result was positive. Parents were convinced to let their children deworm. No negative report has been received by the teachers after 8-10 hours of taking the drugs. Prepared by: Gerly A. Gonzales |

PRES , Hindi Nagpahuli sa Math Contest In The Division
Isinulat ni Rodelio Bugay Nakuha ng tatlong mag-aaral ng Puerto Rivas Elementary School ang mataas na ranking sa nakaraang Math Contest In The Division na ginanap sa Cupang Elementary School noong ika-8 ng Setyembre. Ito ay nilahukan ng mga pampubliko’t pribadong paaralan sa Dibisyon ng Balanga. Nakuha ni Joyce Apostol, mag-aaral ng Unang Baitang ang rank number 5 sa Math Quiz. Pumuwesto naman si Jelo Asaytono mag-aaral ng Ikalawang Baitang ang rank number 7 at nakuha naman ni Adrian M. Castro, mag-aaral ng Ikaanim na Baitang ang rank number 10. Hindi man naiuwi ng mga mag-aaral ang mataas na karangalan, pinatutunayan lamang nito na may ibubuga ang mga batang mag-aaral ng PRES pagdating sa larangan ng pagkukuwenta, Nakasisiguro na sa darating na mga araw ay makapag-uuwi na sila ng karangalan. Tiyak na ipagpapatuloy nila ang maganda nilang nasimulan para sa ikalalago ng kanilang kaalaman at ang hangaring makapagbigay ng karangalan sa kanilang paaralan. Mag-aaral ng PRES Mabuhay Kayo!!!.

SAFETY KIDS WEEK
Safe Kids Week is an annual public awareness campaign designed to raise awareness about the frequency and severity of preventable childhood injuries, which are the leading cause of death. It is initially began in 1993 from the academic research on child unintentional injury. The first initiative of SKP was a comprehensive approach in researching problems encountered by children as they walked to school. A survey called the “walkability” check was used to access the walking environment of the children in public schools. The project proved the need for more interventions to make the environment safer for children. Prevention of childhood injuries, including road traffic, drowning, falls, poisoning and burns.
Moreover, the Safe Kids Week theme for 2015 is promotion and awareness of cycling and road safety in communities. In relation to this program, Puerto Rivas Elementary School celebrates Safety Kids Weeks. In order for the pupils to gain knowledge about their securities and safety, teachers of PRES enlighten the child from the importance of caring oneself. ZUMBA PARTY!
As part of the “Tobacco – Free Generation (TFG) Campaign of the City Government of Balanga City, the Division of Balanga requested from both public and private schools to participate in the Zumba Party.
Pursuant to Division Memo No. 136 s. 2015, Puerto Rivas Elementary School participated to the said program, last December 30, 2015 at 4-Lane Avenue (EGSA) Barangay Tuyo, City of Balanga. The objective of this program is to promote a healthy lifestyle of everyone and to be free from tobacco. Mayor Joet Garcia were very grateful from the outcomes of the Zumba party. Everyone’s participated and it was a success! :) |
PRES EARLY REGISTRATION DAY 2014-1015
January 25, 2014 , the Early Registration Day for School Year 2014-2015 with the theme Makapag-aral ay Karapatan Mo, Magpalista Ngayong Enero. It aimed to achieve 100 % registered pupils for incoming Pre-Elem. to Grade VI of SY 2014-2015. The massive advocacy campaign was implemented with the collaboration & support of local and barangay officials and the community. successful early registration of the following consolidated data or number of
pupils in every grade level. Wherein Pre-Elem
has 32 pupils, Grade I with 40 | pupils, Grade II (40 learners), Grade III (48 learners), Grade IV (43 pupils), Grade V (31 pupils) and Grade VI with 43 learners, with a total of 277 pupils. The assessment was made to prepare our department for the need of classrooms, teachers, Textbooks, seats and to adapt on the pupil’s differences with the regular pupils as well as with disability, Program interventions and assistance.

“ Campus Journalism: Driving Force in Promoting Health, Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Lifestyles.” 2013
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 7079 otherwise known as the “Campus Journalism” Act of 1991 and in support to DepEd Order No. 47, S. 2010, its implementing rules and regulations, the Division of City of Balanga conducted the Division Schools Press Conference last October 10-12, 2013 in Balanga Elementary School with the theme “ Campus Journalism: Driving Force in Promoting Health, Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Lifestyles.” Puerto Rivas Elementary School participated in this event. They were Jaizen J. Buenaventura from Grade VI for news writing in English and Indy A. Cervaño from Grade V for news writing in Filipino. | The conference aims to demonstrate understanding of the importance of journalism by expressing it through different journalistic., endeavours and approaches , sustain advocacy on social consciousness, provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students interested in pursuing journalism as a career, promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media and enhance journalistic competent through healthy and friendly competitions. There was an opening program, a National Anthem conducted by Mrs. Melinda S. Mendoza, T-III of Cupang Elementary School followed by a prayer led by Mrs. Cresencia C. Ighut, T-I of Balanga Elementary School. A roll call | led by Ms. Cherrielyn Roque, MT-I of Tuyo Elementary School then an inspirational message coming from our Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Ronaldo A. Pozon. Dr. Merlinda T. Tablan, EPS-I in English and Dr. Corazon T. Lopez, EPS-I in Filipino orient and discussed the contest rules. After the opening program, the contestants for each category in that day proceeds to their room assignments for lecture and then for contest proper. The other category was scheduled on second and third day of the said contest. At the closing program the participants received certificate of participation and the winners received certificate of recognition. This event was successfully done. |
